In 1972, he graduated from Lobachevsky Gorky State University with a degree in radiophysics.

From 1972 to 1992, he worked at the Central Research Institute of Information Technology “Infracon” of the Ministry of Electronic Industry, Vinnytsia – engineer, senior engineer, leading engineer, head of the laboratory of reliability and ergonomic research.

In October 1979, he defended his PhD thesis in the specialty 05.13.01 “Technical Cybernetics and Information Theory” at the Specialty Council of the Riga Polytechnic Institute. In June 1986, he was awarded the academic title of associate professor of the Department of Automated Control Systems.

In November 1989, he defended his doctoral dissertation in the specialty 05.02.20 “Ergonomics” at the Special Council of the Research Institute of Aviation Equipment in Zhukovsky.  In March 1992, he was awarded the academic title of professor.

From 1980 to 1999 he worked at Vinnytsia National Technical University – Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor (1986) of the Department of Computer Aided Design, Professor (1992) of the Department of Computer Aided Design, Head of the Department of Computer Control Systems (1992-1999).

From 2000 to 2018 – Professor of the Department of Industrial Management, Jerusalem Polytechnic Institute, Israel.

From 2018 to the present, he has been working at the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology of Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University as a professor.

Winner of the Soros Foundation Prize, International Soros Program for Education in the Sciences in 1998.

He teaches disciplines:  “System Analysis, Decision Theory, Data Mining, Computational Intelligence.

Main directions of scientific research:

    • fuzzy logic,
    • neural networks,
    • genetic algorithms,
    • reliability of systems,
    • computational intelligence,
    • machine learning.

He is the author and co-author of 10 monographs, more than 120 articles in Ukrainian, English and Russian, and 3 patents.

He has trained 2 doctors and 12 candidates of technical sciences.

Academician of the New York Academy of Sciences; Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Shipbuilding of Ukraine; Member of the International Ergonomic Association.
