In 2009, he graduated from Donetsk National University, majoring in political science.
From 2014 to 2017, he was a postgraduate student at Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University. In December 2017, he obtained the degree of Candidate of Political Sciences with the specialty 23.00.02 “Political Institutions and Processes”. The topic of the thesis is “Information direction of the policy of protection of national interests of the state”.
From 2014 to 2016, he was a senior lecturer at the Department of Journalism and the Department of Political Science of the Donetsk National University. Since 2017, associate professor of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration. Since August 20, 2019, acting Head of the Department of Journalism, associate professor of the Department of Journalism.
Teaching the courses: “Theory of Mass Communication”, “Theory of Social Communications”, “Analytical Journalism”, “Information Processes and Politics”, “Political Technologies (Media)”.

He is a graduate of the US Government’s “Community Connection” program on “Civic Journalism” (2010). Since 2010, he heads the analytical center “Center for Analysis and Development of Public Communications “DIALOG”. From 2012 to 2019, he was the head of the group of the Pylyp Orlyk Institute of Democracy monitoring Donetsk Region media. From 2015 to 2016, he was a regional representative of the Institute of Mass Information in the Vinnytsia region.
12 years of practical experience in the field of strategic communications (industry, public authorities, public sector, education). Also, Serhii Bondarenko worked as the head of the press center of the Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University (2014-2017).
