In 1977, he graduated from Donetsk State University, Faculty of History. After graduation, he continued to work at the university. From 1977 to 1986, he worked as the chairman of the student trade union of Donetsk State University.

In 1982, he completed his postgraduate studies at the Department of History of the CPSU at Donetsk State University.

In 1983 he defended his PhD thesis at the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.

In 1984 he was promoted to associate professor and worked at the Department of Scientific Communism.

In 2003, he defended his doctoral dissertation at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

In 2004, he was awarded the title of Professor of the Department of Political Science.

From 2003 to 2017, he was the head of the Department of Political Science at Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University.

During his work at the department, 250 scientific papers were published.

Among them: 3 monographs, 7 textbooks with the stamp of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

Supervisor of postgraduate students: 20 PhDs and 2 Doctors of Political Science have defended their theses.

Member of the specialized scientific council of Vasyl’ Stus Donetsk National University and O. Honchar Dnipro National University.

Member of editorial boards of professional journals in political science (Ukraine, Poland).

Participant of international (Poland, Germany) and national scientific conferences.
