Alina Shemchyshena

Senior lecturer of the Department of Journalism and Social Communications

Since 2022, she has been a journalist for the website “The Future of Ukrainian Youth.”

From 2020 to 2022, she worked as a journalist for the website “24 Channel.”

She worked as a journalism lecturer at Vasyl Stus Donetsk National University for five years. She taught human rights journalism and the basics of working in online media. My specialization is journalism and human rights. I also teach journalism at the Vinnytsia Trade and Economic Institute of the DTEU during the 2023–2024 academic year.

I worked as a journalist for the websites “Informatsiina Vinnytsia” and “20 Minutes.”

In 2020, I completed my postgraduate studies at Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, specializing in social communications.

In 2014, I completed my master’s degree at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, specializing in journalism.

She also has a legal education—in 2010, she graduated from the National Academy of Internal Affairs of Ukraine with a degree in law.

In 2024, she participated in the training “Debunking Disinformation about the EU and Support for Ukraine: Media Literacy Workshop.”

In 2022, she participated in the Mediengeist workshop organized by the Kunscht media outlet and the Goethe Institute. This is a project to counter disinformation and fake news, in which we learned fact-checking, storytelling, OSINT analytics, and more.

In 2022, she studied under the IREX program “Strengthening Resilience to Harmful Information Influences During War.”

In 2017, she studied at the Human Rights Academy for Journalists. This is a year-long program for teachers on human rights compliance in the media sphere, supported by UNDP.

From 2022 to 2025, she will conduct training sessions on media literacy and human rights for various audiences: IDPs, young people and students, employees of the Vinnytsia Regional State Administration, trade union members, and librarians. She has researched topics such as the basics of critical thinking, fact-checking tools, countering propaganda methods, and more.
